Bereshit
29 Tishrei 5787 • October 10, 2026
In the beginning, God speaks the world into existence, light from darkness, seas from void, life from stillness. On the sixth day, humanity is formed in the divine image, entrusted with a garden of infinite possibility. But with freedom comes the first test: Adam and Eve reach for the forbidden fruit, and innocence gives way to awareness, shame, and exile. Their son Cain, consumed by jealousy, commits the first murder. Generation after generation unfolds, each carrying the weight of choice. The Torah opens not with law but with story, teaching us that creation itself is an act of love, and that the capacity to choose, even wrongly, is what makes us truly human. Every dawn echoes that first light, reminding us that the world is perpetually being created, and we are its co-authors.
