    Where are the tefillin placed?

Tefillin shel yad (hand), on the left arm. Tefillin shel rosh (head), on the head

    Source: Shulchan Aruch OC 27

    In detail

The arm tefillin (shel yad) is placed on the bicep of the weaker arm (left for right-handed, right for left-handed), facing the heart. The strap is wound 7 times around the forearm. The head tefillin (shel rosh) is placed above the forehead at the hairline, centered between the eyes. This fulfills 'Bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes' (Deuteronomy 6:8).
