In detail
A mezuzah is required on every doorway of a permanent dwelling, including bedrooms, living rooms, kitchen, office, and any room used regularly. Even rented apartments require a mezuzah. Rooms smaller than 4×4 amot (approximately 2×2 meters) are exempt. The obligation applies to any space where people dwell or conduct regular activity.
