Tevilat Kelim (immersion of utensils) is the requirement to immerse new metal and glass eating utensils in a mikveh (ritual bath) before first use, if they were manufactured by non-Jews. This applies to pots, pans, plates, cups, and cutlery made of metal or glass. The immersion sanctifies the utensils for use in a Jewish kitchen. Disposable items and utensils used only for food preparation (not serving) are generally exempt.
