    Which birds are kosher?

According to Jewish tradition, a list of birds including chicken, goose, and duck

    Source: Vayikra 11:13-19

    In detail

Unlike mammals and fish, birds don't have specific physical signs of kashrut. Instead, the Torah lists 24 non-kosher species (all birds of prey or scavengers). Any bird with a reliable tradition (mesorah) of being eaten by Jewish communities is considered kosher. In practice: chicken, turkey, duck, goose, and pigeon are accepted as kosher. Without a mesorah, a bird is treated as potentially non-kosher.
