The Binding of Isaac (Akedat Yitzchak, Genesis 22) was the ultimate test of Abraham's faith. God asked Abraham to sacrifice his beloved son Isaac on Mount Moriah. Abraham obeyed without hesitation, demonstrating absolute devotion. At the last moment, an angel stopped him and a ram was sacrificed instead. This event is central to Jewish theology, it demonstrates the highest level of faith and is recalled in prayers, especially on Rosh Hashanah when the shofar (ram's horn) is blown.
