On Shabbat there are four prayer services instead of the weekday three: (1) Arvit (evening): on Friday night, (2) Shacharit (morning), (3) Musaf (additional), unique to Shabbat and holidays, corresponding to the additional sacrifice offered in the Temple, (4) Mincha (afternoon). The extra Musaf prayer reflects the additional offering (korban musaf) that was brought in the Temple on Shabbat.
