What blessing is said before wine? And after?

Before: Pri HaGafen, after; Me'ein Shalosh

    Source: Shulchan Aruch OC 202

    In detail

Wine holds a special status in Judaism: it is used for Kiddush, Havdalah, weddings, and circumcisions. Because of its importance, the sages established a unique blessing: 'Borei pri hagafen' ('Creator of the fruit of the vine'). Only wine and grape juice receive this special blessing; all other beverages get 'Shehakol.' The after-blessing is 'Me'ein Shalosh' because grapes are one of the Seven Species. Wine is one of only two foods (along with bread) that have their own distinct before-blessing.
