How are hands washed in the morning?
3 times on each hand alternately
Source: Shulchan Aruch OC 4
In detail
Morning hand washing (Netilat Yadayim Shacharit) is performed immediately upon rising: pour water from a cup three times alternately on each hand (right, left, right, left, right, left). This removes the 'spirit of impurity' (ruach ra'ah) that rests on the hands during sleep. The blessing is recited after drying.
